The Winemaker on Peachy Sangria

This is not the first time St. James Winery has released the limited, seasonal wine Peachy Sangria. This wine is released in the summer because nothing speaks to this season better than sweet, ripe peaches and Peachy Sangria delivers just that. The sweet flavor from St. James Winery Peach fruit wine is blended to perfection with Raspberry and Moscato wines. The combination culminates into being a sweet wine perfect for sipping on the patio during a warm summer day.

To further share info about this wine, we decided to interview St. James Winery Executive Winemaker, Andrew Meggitt, to learn more about Peachy Sangria. Here’s how the Q&A session went.

What made you first decide to make Peachy Sangria?
It was an R and D (Research and Development) project in the lab about 5 to 6 years ago. We wanted to develop a wine that had a different flavor profile and feel to our traditional fruit wines.

What are three food pairing ideas for Peachy Sangria?
Pulled barbecue pork, chicken quesadillas and any red sauce pizza.

Aside from color, is there much difference between this year’s release and past releases of Peachy Sangria?
Taste and alcohol (ABV) are very similar. The color will vary year-to-year, but it does not affect the flavor.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
This began as a conversation within the production team. It started life as red, white and blue and evolved into less of the red fruits. Raspberry is still there to give it the acid it needs to balance the sweetness. Enjoy!

Tasting Room Exclusive: Lightly Spritzed Rosé

If you’ve visited the Tasting Room in St. James, MO, then maybe you’ve tasted one of the first St. James Winery selections to go into a 375ml can. If not, then here’s what you need to know about this Tasting Room exclusive wine!

The Lightly Spritzed Rosé is delightfully refreshing with bright strawberry and lemon flavors that bubble across the palate. This limited rosé is ideal for those who love a semi-sweet wine, as it is not too sweet or too dry and is perfect for enjoying during the warmer days of summer. Serve chilled and try pairing it with grilled shrimp, bbq pork or fresh fruit.

The packaging is great because there is no glass to worry about or a partially empty bottle to store! Each 375ml can is equal to a half bottle of wine and this lovely rosé has an ABV of 9.4%. Because of its packaging, this wine fits easily into a cooler and can safely go places glass cannot such as rivers, lakes and even poolside.

We are looking forward to your return!

For your safety and ours, we have instituted new policies to ensure an excellent visit with us at the St. James Winery for our reopening on Wed., May 6, 2020.

The CDC, Federal Government, and county commission have provided us with guidelines for operation to ensure your safety and wellness as we transition back into service.

We are preparing for your return by instituting the following practices:

Safe Social Distancing and Promotion of General Wellness
- We ask that social distancing be observed by all parties. Please respect and maintain a 6-foot distance from each other at all times. Our staff will be taking the extra step to promote wellness in our Tasting Room by wearing masks and gloves while providing you with a wonderful experience during your visit.
Extra Hygienic Practices
- Our team will provide you with sanitizing stations upon entry, and we will be sanitizing all service areas several times per day.
Spacious Seating
- All inside and patio seating, located next door in The Gardens at Public House Brewing Company, is spaced 6 to 8 feet apart. According to the policies set forth by the Phelps County Commissioner’s Office, we will only allow parties of 8 guests or less in our seated areas. The public will be allowed in the Tasting Room, next door at Public House Brewing Company St. James Taproom and in The Gardens.
Recyclable Drinkware & Menus
- We will offer wine flights in place of tastings and will be switching to single-use menus and biodegradable drinkware that will be recycled after each use.

For the safety of all, we urge that if you are not feeling well please stay home and visit us again at a later date.
