If you’ve visited the Tasting Room in St. James, MO, then maybe you’ve tasted one of the first St. James Winery selections to go into a 375ml can. If not, then here’s what you need to know about this Tasting Room exclusive wine!

The Lightly Spritzed Rosé is delightfully refreshing with bright strawberry and lemon flavors that bubble across the palate. This limited rosé is ideal for those who love a semi-sweet wine, as it is not too sweet or too dry and is perfect for enjoying during the warmer days of summer. Serve chilled and try pairing it with grilled shrimp, bbq pork or fresh fruit.

The packaging is great because there is no glass to worry about or a partially empty bottle to store! Each 375ml can is equal to a half bottle of wine and this lovely rosé has an ABV of 9.4%. Because of its packaging, this wine fits easily into a cooler and can safely go places glass cannot such as rivers, lakes and even poolside.

Watch the video below to find out what our Executive Winemaker, Andrew Meggitt, and Tasting Room Manager, Daniel Wynn, have to say about St. James Winery Lightly Spritzed Rosé. Cheers!

With the New Year, comes a fresh take on a seasonal wine we released several years ago. Strawberry Moscato is making its return and is now available outside of our home state.

Our cellar crew carefully blended our award-winning Strawberry and Moscato wines to create this unique taste experience. This wine envelopes the palate with naturally sweet, bright strawberry flavors that are delicately muted by our semi-dry, estate grown Moscato introducing a layer of subtle apricot to the mix. This creates a light, fresh taste experience that is free of added colors or flavors.

This wine pairs beautifully with pork tenderloin or pork cutlets. Set the scene for a candlelit dinner for two by presenting this blush wine in your best stemware. Your significant other will surely raise a glass of this seasonal selection to toast the quality of the wine, along with the time spent with you. Serve it with your meal or dessert, as our Strawberry Moscato compliments milk chocolate truffles. In fact, this light pink wine makes for a wonderful Valentine’s Day gift for that special someone in your life.

Look for the newly designed label for this limited selection in our St. James Winery Tasting Room or in a store near you. Remember, with our seasonal wines, they will only be available as supplies last.

Our St. James Winery vineyard team works hard year-round to grow the best flavors. Bud rubbing is an important task that typically takes place in late spring and directly impacts the way the grapes develop.

By removing the shoots and buds that are starting to grow on the lower parts of the vine, it helps send all the energy and nutrients into the grapes and canopy during this important growth time.

Watch William McIntyre, a member of our vineyard staff, show how it’s done in the St. James Winery vineyards:

Now that you are familiar with what bud rubbing is and how it impacts our grapes, taste the fruits of our past labors!

It’s a beautiful day – the sun is shining and a warm breeze is blowing through the trees. You’re out enjoying the best activities the outdoors has to offer. There’s not much that can make this summer day better, except perhaps a cool drink with the light and delicious flavor of ripe peaches made with real fruit juice.

This summer St. James Winery and Public House Brewing Company are teaming up to share how life is sweeter with peaches. These two unique brands have a special offering of wines, beer and hard cider to make your summer more satisfying:

St. James Winery Peach Wine
The next best thing to biting into a fresh, ripe peach! This Peach fruit wine uses 100% real fruit juice and brings fresh-from-the-orchard peach flavors and aromas to your glass.

St. James Winery Peachy Sangria Seasonal Wine
A fresh and fruity blend of Peach, Raspberry and Moscato wines. This wine has aromas and flavors of freshly sliced peaches and juicy Moscato with a touch of raspberry on the finish.

McIntyre Cider Peach Hard Apple Cider
The aromas are juicy peaches mixed with fresh apple notes. The cider is a clear, sparkling blond in color. There are subtle flavors of biting into a ripe peach along with juicy apples, which comes from real fruit juice. The finish of the cider is clean and crisp.

Public House Brewing Company Farmstand Peach Ale Seasonal Beer
We captured juicy peach flavors in this golden easy-drinking seasonal and made sure the real fruit juice used was a good accent to the base beer, bringing balance and allowing the beer flavors to be present.

You can find these products together in local retailers throughout Missouri this summer.

You can also try the beverages at the Fermentation Campus in St. James, Mo. The campus contains award-winning, next-door neighbors St. James Winery and Public House Brewing Company, with The Gardens between them acting as a shared outdoor wine and beer garden. Sonoma, CA—St. James Winery 2014 Vignoles of the Ozark Highlands, Missouri was voted the Best White Wine at the recent East vs. West Wine Competition held in Santa Rosa, CA. On its way to the top prize, Vignoles was also named Best White Wine at the International Eastern Wine Competition.

The IEWC, which includes wines from all over the east coast and Midwest to the continental divide, determined the best wines in various categories (Sparkling, White, Rose, and Red), with the winners tasted blind against the best from a concurrent West Coast Competition. The St. James 2014 Vignoles won over a noted California Sauvignon Blanc.

“We are delighted at this prestigious honor, and very proud of our team here at St. James for their commitment to quality in the vineyards and wine cellar,” said CEO Peter Hofherr. “Their efforts and the professionalism of the competition judges confirm that we make superb wines here in Missouri.”

In addition to Vignoles’ top prize, St. James Winery Friendship School White, a blend of estate grown grapes, was also judged as Best of Class for white blends. St. James Winery also won several other medals for other wines.

“Vignoles is a grape variety that grows very well in Missouri, and can make different styles of wine from dry to medium sweet and even late harvest dessert wines,” said Executive Winemaker Andrew Meggitt. “It is encouraging that even judges from California, where they don’t grow Vignoles have an appreciation for its special aroma and taste.”

The 2014 Vignoles has already won a host of wine competitions. It was awarded the Missouri Governor’s Cup and named Best Wine in Missouri and a last July. Other awards for the 2014 Vignoles include three Best of Class, two Double Gold, and four Gold medals.

In 2015 St. James Winery wines won a total of more than 200 medals in major wine competitions including 13 Best of Class awards, 7 Double Gold medals, and 36 Gold Medals, and during the first two months of 2016, St. James Winery has already won more than 40 medals.

White wine is a summer staple. It’s just not summertime without sipping a refreshing glass of white wine during a backyard cookout or while watching the sunset at the lake.

This year, there are even more white wines on the scene. I’m all for a good Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio, but instead of slipping into your same old summer habits, mix things up with newer grape varieties.

“This Grand Champion award is very affirming to the high standards our winemaking team strives for here at St. James Winery,” said Peter Hofherr, CEO of St. James Winery. “We are quite pleased because not only did our Friendship School White wine win at Pacific Rim in California, but our Riesling also won the John Rose Best of Show Award for Riesling at the Finger Lakes Competition just a few weeks earlier.”

In addition to Grand Champion, St. James Winery won four other Gold / Best of Class awards at Pacific Rim for its Moscato, Riesling, Friendship School Red, and Strawberry. St. James Winery Peach wine also received a gold medal, and six other wines received silver or bronze medals.
