St. James Winery is excited to announce our new Concord sweet red wine, which releases on March 31, 2017.

The wine is a tribute to the Concord grapes grown in the Ozark Highlands along Missouri’s Historic Route 66 for over 115 years. A long-term contract with a prestigious juice, jam and jelly company helped make these high-quality Concord grapes famous. Every year during harvest, Italian descendants still set up Concord grape stands along the highway to sell their fruit to travelers.

The Concord wine is juicy and sweet, with an intense grape jam flavor and light finish. Serve it at refrigerator temperature, over ice or mixed with a club soda to create a light, grape spritzer.

On March 31, the new Concord sweet red wine will be available for purchase in the Tasting Room, online at StJamesWinery.com and in retail stores where St. James Winery wines are sold.

That evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., we will host a special tasting event in our St. James Winery Tasting Room in St. James, Mo. Second-generation owner Peter Hofherr will discuss how Concord grapes have shaped the history of the area and sign bottles upon request. We’ll also be serving complimentary samples of the new Concord wine along with food pairings.

St. James Winery and Public House Brewing Company are proud sponsors of the four-day True/False Film Fest in Columbia, Mo. for the next three years.

According to their website, True/False offers a heightened four-day weekend of creative placemaking in which filmmakers, artists, musicians and others remake the mid-sized college town into a one-of-a-kind utopia. The transformative, rambunctious, ecstatic experience of T/F creates a cathartic journey that forces participants to do nothing less than to re-imagine reality.

Like our winery and brewery, True/False believes in doing what is environmentally and socially just for our local and global community.

St. James Winery is a super sponsor and the exclusive wine and cider sponsor of the festival. Public House Brewing Company is a silver sponsor. The wine, hard cider and beer from both companies will be poured at all events throughout the festival.

There’s still time to purchase passes to the True/False Film Fest March 2-5, 2017. We look forward to seeing you there!

Jason Stacy, brewer at Public House Brewing Company and brother of co-founder, Josh Stacy, recently had a large tumor removed from his brain after suffering from numbness in his hands and severe neck and shoulder pain for over a year.

On Monday, Feb. 27, the Stacy family is having a fundraiser for Jason at Just A Taste (200 N Jefferson St, St James, MO 65559) from 6-9 p.m. Jason faces many months of rehabilitation without short-term disability insurance, and he’s unsure of how long he’ll be out of work.

The event will include a silent auction with donated items from numerous local businesses and individuals.

Live music during the event includes:
6 p.m. – 7 p.m. | Bliss Boys (Richard Hall & Friends)
7 p.m. – 8 p.m. | Limited Addition
8 p.m. – 9 p.m. | Trilogy

In addition, we’ll have complimentary wine and beer tastings from:

  • Public House Brewing Company
  • Just A Taste
  • St. James Winery
  • Wages Brewing Company
  • Piney River Brewing Company
  • Three Squirrels Winery
  • MASH Club

There is a $5 minimum donation at the door. The family is very thankful for the continued support of our community and friends during this time.

If you can’t attend the event, the family is also accepting donations on a Go Fund Me page for Jason.

When we re-released our Brut Champagne American in the summer of 2016, we shared the story of our champagne-making process and the potential disaster that ultimately led to greatness.

Of the three exceptionally small batches made, Bin 3 was the first to be released in June 2016 with only 18 cases produced. It had a pronounced floral nose, with flavors of bright citrus, peach and honeycomb with a lively effervescence and medium creamy body.

Now Bin 1 and Bin 2, with 4 cases and 12 cases produced respectively, are ready to be released.

Join us at the Brut Champagne American Tasting Event on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the St. James Winery Tasting Room in St. James, Mo.

You’ll be the first to taste these two very limited sparkling wines and pair them with cheese, chocolate and fruit. The wines will also be available for purchase that evening, while supplies last.

Join St. James Winery and Public House Brewing Company for their Grapes & Grain Fun Run on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the St. James Vineyard Cottage in St. James, Mo.

For liquid encouragement throughout the race, enjoy small pours of wine or beer at miles one and two. At the finish line, celebrate your success with a commemorative glass full of wine or beer!!

After the race, enjoy complimentary energy-boosting snacks or purchase a picnic kit and drinks. Bring your blankets or chairs if you’d like to stay and listen to a live music performance by Hey Dave from 11-2 p.m. We’ll also have yard games if you are in a competitive spirit.
