This week we are featuring our recent 2018 Best of Class winner, at the Pacific Rim International Wine Competition, Cherry fruit wine for wine of the week!

Here’s what Amy Mullally, CS & WSET Diploma, Professional Wine Judge has to say regarding this classic fruit wine, “This is 100% perfectly ripened cherry wine, with no added artificial flavors or colors. The St. James Winery is a historic fixture in the region and is famous for their premium fruit wines. This wine’s aromas are warm and inviting from the glass, like freshly made cherry compote. Cherry jam and a purity of fruit makes one wonder how they captured the essence of cherry so perfectly. Vibrant and fresh on the palate, sweet without being cloying, there is great natural acidity to balance the rich fruit. A fantastic summer aperitif chilled over ice, this would make a great cocktail as well: think vodka, cherry wine, soda water and a lemon wedge. For the more adventurous, float a bit over your classic whisky sour for a delicious twist. This wine pairs seamlessly with roast pork loin and will also make a fantastic reduction sauce from the pan drippings and a dollop of butter. The options for dessert applications are endless: angel food cake, cherry sweet wine drizzle, fresh cherries, and homemade whipped cream is a great start.”

Try this wine as Mullally recipe suggests or in our Cherry Wine Delight recipe!

Available online, in stores or in our Tasting Room.

Country Red and Country White cows, we salute you!

Over the years our vintage cow labels have had a great run, but all good things must end. This spring our Country Red and Country White cows are being put out to pasture, making these end-of-an-era bottles into collectibles.

Bottle collectors, take advantage of this opportunity to snap up some bottles for your collections.

But don’t worry, Country Red and Country White will continue! The same award winning wines you love will debut fresh new labels later this year!

…our Cherry Wine is a Winner!

And in fact, our St. James Winery Cherry Wine isn’t just a medal winner. It’s not even just a gold medal winner.

It’s a Florida State Fair International Double Gold winner!!

What’s it taste like? Our Cherry wine is sweet, tart, and delicious. Better than ripe cherries fresh from the tree! And because it’s made from real fruit, it’s real good.

For a great food and wine pairing, try Cherry Wine with grilled pork, in barbeque sauce, or for dessert with milk chocolate.

We’ve been experimenting in the kitchen, and because chocolate and cherries always taste great together, we started there. Then throw a little cream cheese and sugar in the mix to create our mini-chocolate chip encrusted cherry cream cheese cheeseball, the only thing your really need to know is where to get the recipe!

No worries — it’s right here in the Recipes Section at St. James Winery.

St. James Winery’s Raspberry or Cherry wines!

All our fruit wines are made with real fruit juices, which gives them as close to fresh ripe fruit taste as you can find in a bottle of wine.

Serve St. James Winery Raspberry or Cherry wines well-chilled. They pair beautifully with a big wine glass and an even bigger box of chocolates!

They also taste great alongside your favorite book, so……after dinner, St. James Winery recommends Todd Klimen’ s The Wild Vine: A Forgotten Grape and the Untold Story of American Wine, a book devoted to the fascinating story of the Norton grape.

For two different takes on the same Norton grape, sip along with our 2012 Cynthiana or 2009 Norton, which the San Francisco Chronicle just awarded Double Gold and Gold, respectively.

At St. James Winery our signature  Blackberry Wine Cake is a perennial fall favorite.  This cake is an eye-catcher on the table with its jazzy purple color. The sweet buttery blackberry glaze make it a sure-fire winner.

Why not try switching out the Blackberry Wine for one of St. James Winery’s other fruit wines?  This cake is delicious as a BlueberryCherry, Peach, Raspberry or Strawberry Wine Cake!  Simply match the wine and gelatin flavors.
