Perfect Pairings: St. James Winery, Sybill’s, and Annie Gunn’s Lou Rook
St. James Winery has a perfect wine and food pairing for the holidays. St. James Winery wines paired with a collaborative menu of Lou Rook from Annie Gunn’s in Chesterfield, and served in the beautiful surroundings of Sybill’s Saint James. This unique culinary experience begins on November 24th at 4:30pm at Sybill’s Saint James.
The meal consists of appetizer, three courses, and dessert. Highlights from the menu include House Smoked Vermont Maple Glazed Jumbo Shrimp, Prince Edward Island Mussels, Roasted Local Pumpkin Risotto with Pumpkin Seed Oil and Prosciutto Chips, Colorado Lamb Chops Marinated in Rosemary, Garlic & Dijon, and Pumpkin Bread Pudding with Ginger Crème Anglaise. Among the St. James Winery wines served will be Pioneer White and Pioneer Red (2012), Seyval (2012), Dry Vignoles (2012), Cynthiana (2012), Norton 42 (2012), and Late Harvest Seyval (2010). Additionally, and beginning at 3:30pm, St. James Winery is hosting an exclusive barrel tasting led by head winemaker Andrew Meggitt followed by a cellar tour hosted by St. James Winery CEO Peter Hofherr. During the tour samples of the 2013 Nouveau, St. James Winery’s first bottling from the 2013 harvest, will be available. About Annie Gunn’s Chef Lou Rook
A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, and the University of Missouri, Lou Rook worked at Cardwell’s in Clayton, then co-owned Grappa, a café in St. Louis’s Central West End, before coming to Annie Gunn’s where he’s been since October 1993 creating with food and wine “inspired by the richness of country life.” Chef Rook uses the best ingredients and the traditions that are most appropriate to them and imbues them with his own talented creative spin within the rhythm of the seasons.

When Tom & Janet Scheffer and their daughter Sybill opened Sybill’s Saint James Restaurant , it was the blessing of a reputation for good food and attention to detail that preceded them to St. James from the legendary Zeno’s in Rolla.
