Harvest Update
It’s Official! Harvest is ON!
St. James Winery’s first grapes (Cayuga) hit the crush pad last week at 9:51pm on Wednesday, August 21. Congratulations to Tiffany Blaser who won our 2013 Harvest Pool with her guess of August 22nd at 6:45 am, and thanks to everyone who entered.
Since then, we’ve harvested more than 250 tons of grapes, and there’s plenty more where those came from! Here’s some of what we’ve brought in to the winery:
- Cayuga, for our Friendship School White
- Seyval, for our new Pioneer White
- Rougeon, for Friendship School Red & new Pioneer Red
- Vignoles, for our always-luscious Vignoles
So far we’re seeing another high-quality harvest. And though people may have been complaining about the hot, dry weather Missouri has experienced in the past week, it’s great for grapes, allowing them to ripen quite nicely.
