The folks here in St. James have been counting down, and March 1 is it — the official beginning of trout-fishing season, and St. James Winery and Maramec Spring Park are ready to welcome all the trout-fishing enthusiasts headed to town.
Each year hundreds (and hundreds!) of anglers of all ages descend on St. James’s Maramec Spring, home to some of the best trout fishing in the Midwest. For generations, some dedicated families have driven long distances to continue their opening day perfect attendance records.
While you’re in town, stop by St. James Winery for our award-winning Riesling. This semi-sweet white wine, with its apple-like aroma and flavors of crisp, tart green apples, citrus, peaches and honey, is the perfect complement to fresh pan-fried trout.
