Our Team

Peter Hofherr (Chairman and Chief Executive Officer) brings both business sense and a strong understanding of the wine industry to his family’s business, St. James Winery. Armed with a degree in Microbiology from Auburn and a MBA with a concentration of Finance from Georgia State University, Peter returned home to St. James Winery in 1995 after working for Coopers and Lybrand in their Financial Advisory Services consulting group. He served as winery general manager until 2001 when he responded to the call of public service as first, Deputy Director, and then Director of Agriculture and finally as Chief of Staff to the Governor for the State of Missouri. Peter rejoined St. James Winery in 2007 and currently is serving on Missouri’s Wine and Grape Board as chairman; the Board of Governors of Missouri State University and on the National Wine and Grape Initiative. In addition to his winery and industry responsibilities, Peter has a PhD in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Missouri and serves as Assistant Director of the McQuinn Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Dean Chalem (Vice President of Sales) joined St. James Winery in 2004. With a combination of creativity and solid experience, Dean has captured the attention and imagination of the distributor sales force, and as a result has seen distribution rise to 15 states during his tenure here at the winery. A seasoned beverage industry veteran, Dean worked for Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group for 8 years and E & J Gallo Winery for 11 years before applying his expertise to the management of the wholesaler network at St. James Winery. dean.chalem@stjameswinery.com

 

 

Andrew Meggitt (Executive Winemaker) joined the St. James Winery team in 2002. A native of New Zealand, he has been enjoying life in the wine business for over 20 years. A three year long travel adventure around the world following university influenced not only his outlook on life, but shaped his perception of winemaking styles and methodology and ultimately reinforced his desire to be part of the wine industry and encourage others to enjoy the wine experience. Making wine is Andrew’s true passion. Under his direction as executive winemaker, St. James Winery has consistently been among the top four gold medal awarded wineries in the US. When not running marathons (another passion), Andrew creatively stretches the boundaries of traditional winemaking while integrating both old and new world techniques he learned while working in New Zealand and France.andrew.meggitt@stjameswinery.com

Ginny Summer (Director of Retail) Ginny directly oversees our retail operations which include the St. James Winery Tasting Room along with the Public House Brewing Company St. James Tap Room and the Rolla Brewpub. A native of St. James, Ginny returned to the area after dedicating 21 years to the casino industry, working with some of the worlds’ largest casino companies including Caesars, Pinnacle, Pen National and Isle casinos. Ginny’s most recent position was Director of Food and Beverage Operations where she managed multiple restaurant concepts and beverage programs . During her tenure in the casino industry Ginny received the Kansas City Restaurant Association Manager of the Year award for innovation and ability to build strong teams. ginny.summer@stjameswinery.com
